Final Fantasy: 8 Oldest Playable Characters
Even though these Final Fantasy figures are old, fans of the series can still play as them.
Characters in video games are usually around the same age, especially in the Final Fantasy series. If you looked at every main story and spinoff, you’d find a lot of people between the ages of 20 and 30. In this series and in video games in general, there aren’t many older characters.
It makes sense, since the point of these fantasy RPGs is to be taken away to magical places. Who dreams that they will be old and have to fight monsters? Still, Final Fantasy’s over hill area has a few playable characters. And they still kick major butt, no question about it. There are going to be reveals.
Red 13
Red 13 is a beast from Final Fantasy 7 that looks like a lion. He is 48 in his kind’s years, making him by far the oldest person in the group. The end of the first game shows that his race can live for more than a hundred years.
After the credits, the story jumps ahead hundreds of years, where Red 13’s children join him to look at how broken Midgar is. So, officially, in the game, he is pretty young, but Cloud and the others think of him as old.
Cyan
Cyan is a fighter with a sword in Final Fantasy 6. He is 50, but thanks to his skill with a sword, he can still cut his enemies into pieces. Even though he lost his wife and child during the game, 50 is still a young age.
Now he has to spend the rest of his life without them, which makes him one of the saddest people in the game. Cyan is sad, but that doesn’t change the fact that he wants to free the world from the Empire by any means possible.
Banon
Banon is also in Final Fantasy 6, but he is only in the party for a short time. He is in charge of the Returners, a group of people who want to fight against the Empire. After Locke, Terra, Sabin, and Edgar find his hiding place, they go on a river trip before things start to go wrong.
He is 54, which makes him a little older than Cyan. He is also not as skilled. His healing power works well on the raft ride, which is where he spends most of his time. After this, the party splits up and starts three different situations, including one with Banon, that can be done in any order.
Cidolfus Orlandeau
Cidolfus Orlandeau is one of the most strange names given to a Cid figure. He is from the game Final Fantasy Tactics, and when he joins the group, he is 56 years old. Cidolfus is a master of the sword, just like Cyan, but his blows are filled with strong holy and elemental magic.
Even though he is one of the oldest people on the team, he is one of the best. Cidolfus is a bit like Obi-Wan Kenobi because he wears brown robes and doesn’t want to let an evil empire take over.
Tellah
Tellah is a short-term member of the party in Final Fantasy 4. Most of the people in that game’s party are only there for a short time, which made it stand out at the time. People came and went from the party for different reasons. Tellah, for example, gives his life to save his friends by calling up a strong spell.
He didn’t bite the bullet until he was 60 years old. Fusoya is another old witch in the game. He may be the same age as Tellah or older, but no one knows for sure. Fusoya can’t be ranked officially, but he’s still worth noting.
Galuf
In Final Fantasy 5, Galuf is one of the four people in the party. Everyone else in the group is close to 20 years old, but Galuf is 60 years old. Even though he has a sprite, his beard still has a lot of color in it, so he doesn’t look that old. The official art for Drift Boss, on the other hand, shows something different.
A lot of Final Fantasy 7 fans think that Aerith’s death was sudden and out of the blue, but Galuf died before her. Krile, his granddaughter, takes his place. Krile is 14, which makes her one of the youngest possible characters in the series. Galuf’s level and Job experience are absorbed by Krile, which is good news for players.
Strago
Final Fantasy 6 is one of the major games with the most party members. So it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that another character is on this list. In the game, Strago looks like a 70-year-old man.
In Final Fantasy 6, he is one of the last witches still alive who doesn’t need Magicite to help him. Strago has a niece named Relm, who is 10 years old, just like Galuf.
Quina
Quina is one of the most strange people in Final Fantasy 9, if not the whole series. We don’t know who they are or what race they are. Even though it doesn’t look like it, Quina is around 89 years old.
Quina sometimes acts like a child, but that’s because they are always hungry and haven’t met many people until Zidane finds them. Quina is a Blue Mage. When she eats monsters, she can learn their magic. Their hunger never goes away, so Quina is kind of like Kirby, but not as cute.
